Reverend Mandy England Cole
In 2022, Mandy completed the David G. Buttrick Certificate Program in Homiletic Peer Coaching offered by Vanderbilt Divinity School. A natural coach, Mandy thrived in this program and preaching coaching has become a central part of her ministry.
Preaching Coaching brought together her core commitments to collaborative and inductive formation. She prefers discovery through exploration of excellent questions over prescribed “fixes.” Her passion is to work alongside preachers to enrich their experience of preaching, honoring the preacher’s formation as well as sermon formation. Coaching is an integral way she continues to participate in church formation.
Mandy is a native Virginian who lives and works in her hometown north of Richmond. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Meredith College in 1999 and her Master’s of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond in 2007. She was ordained in 2007 by Sardis Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as an associate pastor. In 2013, Mandy returned to Richmond to serve as senior pastor of Ginter Park Baptist Church. She is endorsed by the Alliance of Baptists and has served as an officer on their Board of Directors. Currently Mandy is serving as the Program Associate and as the Preaching Coach for The Bridge for Early Career Preachers of Union Presbyterian Seminary.
